Going Deeper with the Word – Don’t Trade Good for Great

When life is good Is that enough? Is a great life within our reach or is it reserved for those with wealth and fame? What can we do to have a great life? 🤔 Let's discuss.

Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review with me the Word of God.  The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.

Today, we examine how God’s Word provides clear guidance and direction about how God brings levels of greatness into our lives.

Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message. I will be reading scripture today from the Amplified Bible.

Here is our first verse:

So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, “The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”

– Hebrews 13:6 AMP

In this verse, we see a demonstration of embracing a posture of confidence when we cast our fears before the Lord. We need not be afraid and we need not live in fear when we put our trust in God.  Yes, there will still be times when we are only human and feel afraid, but when we live a life that honors God and we put our trust in God, we can know that God is with us in these times and can provide us protection and the strength to navigate the situation.

Let’s have a look at another verse.

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]

– Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP

In this verse, we are reminded that we need not worry that we don’t know what is next.  Our view and insight into the natural world are limited. Only God knows what is coming in our path and in our future and therefore God and only God can prepare us for the path ahead. Only God knows the perfect plan for each of us and can order our steps with a level of accuracy and certainty we could never accomplish on our own.

Let’s look at one last verse.

Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]

– John 14:27 AMP

In this verse, Jesus Christ describes the fact that His peace is the perfect peace. A level of peace and calm for every challenge, not just ‘some’ challenges.  He also points out that the peace He offers is not as the world offers. There are plenty of comforts created by man that can only bring calm to our flesh and are temporary. Only the Lord provides a level of lasting peace that penetrates our spirit to our very soul.

Do not trade good for great. If you are unable to say that life is great, open a dialogue with the Lord to ask for guidance on how to bring His light and presence more into your world.  Ask God for guidance on how to change your life from good to great, and guidance on the areas of your life that may need to change.  Once you learn how great life can be with God, you may never feel satisfied with ‘good’ again.

Do you already feel life is great? I invite you to ask God to touch your heart and reveal Himself to you in a way that reveals this truth. Allow Him to show you the greatness in your life through your walk with Him and to reveal if there are opportunities for growth that you may not be aware of.

Thank you for your time in reviewing these verses with me today.
