Hello, welcome to Walking in Step with God. I am Steve McDonald. Today our topic is ‘Live Out Your Faith Daily’ as we continue our series ‘Find Your Way to Faith’. I am really enjoying this series. We are learning how faith can be the foundation for our way of life and the source of living a joy-filled and purpose driven life.

In today’s message, we are going to dive into how we carry out our faith as we navigate through our world. Our relationships, our career, our education, and even our leisure time all have opportunities to intersect with our faith. In our relationships, we have opportunities to be present in ways that can only be possible through faith. Our careers have opportunities for favor and influence that are derived from our faith. Our faith can influence our education by fostering strong character traits around ethics and decision making. Faith even influences our leisure time, shaping how we pursue uplifting activities and draw closer to God.

Let’s integrate our faith into daily life, becoming beacons of hope and nurturing our relationship with God.

Welcome back. Let’s continue our discussion of ways to live out our faith each day, every day of our lives.

Prayer

The first and most important aspect of living a life of faith is staying rooted in prayer. Prayer is how we keep our hearts, minds, and hearts focused on God. Our connection with God is paramount in keeping our thoughts and minds centered on His ways and the strength of our faith. When we pray, we are showing God our desire to surrender to Him and our intention to live a life that includes Him.

We can pray at any time, day or night. We can pray anywhere, doing just about anything. In every moment of prayer, we know that God is present, and He hears every single word of our prayer.

I have found that the more time I make for prayer and silent time with God, the stronger His presence feels in my heart. In my life, I have learned that my prayer time with God is among the most joy-filled times of my day, because I can sincerely sense His presence when -I- am sincere in wanting to be close to Him through prayer.

Make prayer a fundamental part of your day, every day.

Acts of Kindness and Service to Others

The next area I would like to explore for living out your faith daily is performing acts of kindness. Do you pass someone in your commute each day that is homeless? Do you know someone in your community that is dealing with grief or challenges in life? Are there any charities or causes you care about and want to contribute to?

These are just a few examples of opportunities to perform acts of kindness and service to others. A life of faith is not meant to be a solo act. A genuine life of faith includes being intentional about being of service to others.

Going back to our previous point about prayer, we can even pray and ask God to direct us to opportunities to perform an act of kindness and help someone in need. This is a regular part of my prayers and He most certainly does!! The important thing is to be ready to assist when the time is right to help someone in need.

We can offer someone who is homeless a meal or groceries to make many meals. We can be a listening ear for someone in our community that is dealing with challenges in life. God may even use us to provide counsel in these cases. We can give our time or resources to causes or charities we care about, knowing that we will make a difference.

Make acts of service a central part of your daily faith.

Living Without Compromise

The last point I would like to touch on today is living without compromise. We live in a world that is largely turned away from the ways of God. Living out a life of faith can be challenging in many areas of our lives, especially so when we are exposed to and interact with others who are turned away from God. Yes, there are those who simply are unaware and have not yet learned of the power of faith, but there are also others who outright reject God and anything He represents.

There will be times in our lives that we have a choice to make. Do we go with the flow of the world and keep our faith under wraps, or do we remain steadfast in our faith, knowing we will be going against the grain and standing out as different from others?

There may be situations in your family, your workplace, your schools, or even your circle of friends that the principles and values derived from your faith will come under attack.

I invite you to live without compromise. If the values and principles from your faith contradict what others want to do or say, do not take part in these activities.

If you are in the workplace in a room where others are gossiping and they look to you to chime in, maintain your posture of faith and speak no ill words of this individual. If you are around friends who are using profanity and lewd comments, let your posture of faith remain steadfast, refraining from use of this language.

By maintaining your posture in faith in these types of scenarios, you remain anchored in the light of God and you set an example for others. The courage you display in your refrain from these acts may be what helps someone to move away from the world and toward God.

Wrap Up

In today’s message, we explored ways to live out our faith each day. We discussed the importance of prayer. Prayer is the very foundation of staying connected to God. It is the way we show God our willingness to surrender to Him and yield to Him. God seeks to lead and guide and direct us with His unfailing love. When we make the time and effort to be present with Him, He will allow us to experience Him in ways we never imagined. We discussed the importance of acts of service and giving. Regardless of where we are in the world and what we do for a living, I imagine all of us have opportunities to perform acts of service to help others in need. Be it the elderly neighbor down the street who could use a friendly conversation every once in a while, or donating your time or resources to a cause important to you, God is pleased when we give selflessly and generously. We can even ask God through prayer to direct us to opportunities to help someone in need. Lastly, we talked about the importance of living without compromise. When we face a decision on whether or not to go with the flow in the ways of the world, we strive to remain grounded in our faith. In doing so, not only do we keep our faith strong, but our courage may be an inspiration to someone to follow in our footsteps of faith.
There are many other ways of living out our faith daily, such as sharing our faith with others, worship in our communities of faith, and more. Let your faith be the foundation of every aspect of life. Your faith will allow you to be a light to the world in ways you could have never imagined.
