Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review the Word of God with me. The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.
Today, we examine how God’s Word provides clear guidance and direction about worshiping with our community.
Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message. I will be reading scripture today from the Amplified Bible.Â
Here is our first verse:
“Again I say to you, that if two believers on earth agree [that is, are of one mind, in harmony] about anything that they ask [within the will of God], it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in My name [meeting together as My followers], I am there among them.”
– Matthew 18:19-20 AMP
In this verse, Christ explains the impact of bringing a prayer before Him when more than one is gathered. When we bring a prayer before God in agreement, we are demonstrating to God our collective devotion and dedication to placing our trust in Him.
Do you have something in your life that needs prayer? I encourage you to seek out someone in your community – a friend, family, or loved one – even someone at your place of worship to pray with you, in agreement, and bring your petition before God.

Let’s have a look at another verse.
and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
– Hebrews 10:24-25 AMP
In this verse, we see Paul encouraging the Hebrews to encourage one another in meetings. This verse explains the importance of meeting in fellowship. Gathering with others—whether a handful or a multitude—gives us the chance to lift each other up, providing support and motivation.
Fellowship allows like-minded individuals to praise together, share testimony, study God’s Word, and even pray together. Keep fellowship among your priorities to help strengthen your walk with God.

Let’s look at one last verse.
There is the one who [generously] scatters [abroad], and yet increases all the more;
And there is the one who withholds what is justly due, but it results only in want and poverty.
The generous man [is a source of blessing and] shall be prosperous and enriched,
And he who waters will himself be watered [reaping the generosity he has sown].
– Proverbs 11:24-25 AMP
In this verse, we learn that giving before God has the effect of returning a blessing to the giver. When we give, either through our time, our resources, or our skills, we not only provide for others but we can find ourselves richer in joy.
God loves the cheerful giver. Asking God to use you to give to others shows Him your dedication to serving Him. In serving others, God will ensure that the giver reaps the generosity that he or she has shown.

Worshiping with community is a powerful way to bring ourselves before God in unity. While God delights in our worship, even our worship when we are alone, we can live an even richer life of faith when we integrate others into our worship.
