Going Deeper with the Word – How to Keep Growing Even When You Feel Stuck

When we feel stuck in life, what can we do to keep growing in our faith? What can we do to strengthen our trust in God even when it seems our lives are going nowhere? 🤔 Let's discuss.

Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review with me the Word of God.  The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.

Today, we examine how God’s Word provides clear guidance and direction about how we can continue to grow even when we feel stuck in our lives.

Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message. I will be reading scripture today from the Amplified Bible.

Here is our first verse:

By faith Abraham, when he was called [by God], obeyed by going to a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went, not knowing where he was going.

Hebrews 11:8 AMP

I have shared this verse because it demonstrates the posture in which we should trust God with our plans.  Rather than feel stuck, we see in this verse that Abraham proceeded to move forward not knowing where or even when he would arrive, but trusting God completely in the process.  This same level of faith can be introduced into circumstances where we don’t know what or where we will end up, but we can decide to trust God to lead the way.

Let’s have a look at another verse.

Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.

– Luke 6:38 AMP

In this verse, Jesus explains that when we give, we can know that our giving is not in vain.  When we feel stuck, we should seek out ways to serve others.  Not specifically to expect something in return in the natural, but to know that we can provide for someone who may also be feeling stuck.  We may unknowingly provide a way for an individual to feel ‘unstuck’ as a result of our actions.  Additionally, we should know that if we seek out a posture to serve others, God will notice and will also reward us in ways that are abundant and plentiful.

Let’s look at one last verse.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

– Proverbs 16:9 AMP

This is a popular verse in our ministry and for good reason.  In this verse, King Solomon explains that while we can plan, the Lord is the One who can establish steps to a perfect plan.  Looking at the context of this verse as it pertains to today’s message, let us consider that we may work, strive, push, and pull to try to accomplish our plans in life and possibly still feel stuck in the process. As an alternative, we can seek out God’s plans first and foremost, knowing that He will lead us in a way that will remove the temptation to feel stuck – for we know we need only yield and trust God’s plan and timing.

Do you feel stuck? Bring your concerns before God and seek out His plans for you.  Ask Him to show you, lead you, and guide you to your plans. We need not feel ‘stuck’ when we place our trust in the Lord.
