Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review with me the Word of God. The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.
Today, I will share verses from the Amplified Bible. Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message.
Here is our first verse.
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
– Proverbs 3:5 AMP
In this verse, we see King Solomon expressing the essence of our entire message today. Simply put, trusting in God with all of our hearts and not relying on our own understanding. As we discussed today, we can only know so much about our circumstances. Our ability to observe all sides of a situation is limited to the physical realm. Only God has the ability to see all sides of every situation all at once. In doing so, it is very wise to trust God’s perspective of a situation over our own!
Let’s have a look at another verse.
And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be [a]transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
– Romans 12:2 AMP
This verse explains the first point of our message today. That we should not seek to conform to the norms of today’s culture, but focus instead on godly values and pursue God’s will. In seeking God’s ways over the world’s ways, we seek to enrich and renew our minds as well as serve as an example for others who seek to pursue godliness over worldliness.
Let’s have a look at one more verse.
And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
– Philippians 4:7 AMP
In this verse, Paul shares the level of peace that comes with trusting God. The peace that derives from the light of Christ is available to us all if we simply seek to trust fully in God.
