Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review with me the Word of God. The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.
Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message.
Here is our first verse.
Consider it nothing but joy, my [a]brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. 3 Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4
This verse explains further the point I made in today’s message that remaining faithful in the midst of trials prepares us in various ways. Trials help us to develop our faith and equip us in ways that will bring peace and endurance. As pointed out in the contextual note of this verse, trials give us experience for future events, much as we learn in other areas of our lives and grow more wisdom over time.
Let’s have a look at another verse.
Constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength]
Romans 12:12
In this verse, we see another reference to being patient while in the midst of stress. We also see in the contextual notes that confidence in Christ is a key component of bringing hope to our circumstances.
Let’s look at one last verse.
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heartAnd do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].
Proverbs 3:5-6
In this final verse of today, we see the importance of trusting in God. This verse explains clearly that we should not seek to fully rely on our understanding or insight. We must aim to put our trust in the Lord, knowing that He knows far more than we do in our trials. Only God knows the path of the circumstances that may have befallen us and the best way to equip us to grow from the situation, according to His will.Â
Thank you for the opportunity to share encouragement. Here @walkinginstepwithGod we truly appreciate your support. We are fully committed to Christ and the community. We invite you to join us in fellowship and to seek opportunities for fellowship in your local community as well.
