Going Deeper With the Word – Find God’s Peace in the Chaos

When we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, how can we find God’s peace? 🤔 Let's discuss.

Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review the Word of God. The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.

Today, we examine how God’s Word provides clear guidance and direction about finding God’s peace in the chaos.

Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message. I will be reading scripture today from the Amplified Bible.

If you are watching this message online, we invite you to share your comments as we review each verse.

Here is our first verse.

On the glorious splendor of Your majesty

And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.

Psalm 145:5

This scripture does an excellent job capturing the very essence of God’s creation and how we can experience it. King David uses the word ‘splendor’ and ‘majesty’ to describe what God has created on the earth. He even goes on to explain that he will meditate within it.

There are so many words to describe nature around us. For me, nature is full of awe and amazement.

Question: How would you describe nature? What is your favorite type or location of nature? What makes it your favorite?

Let’s have a look at another verse.

For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.

Mark 11:24

In this verse, Jesus explains quite clearly that whatever we ask in prayer, so long as it is in accordance with God’s will, we should know that we have received it. In the context of today’s message, this has many implications.

It means that if we are in a situation that is stressful and we are feeling our temper or anger rising, we can ask for God to help us find calm in peace and expect that help in the moment. It has happened to me countless times – praying for peace in the moment in real time and even praying for peace in advance, knowing I will be entering a difficult situation.

Question: Can you recall a time where you faced a difficult situation in a professional setting, especially one that included inappropriate behavior from one or many parties? Did you call on God at the moment for assistance with the situation? If yes, explain the request and how God helped you with the circumstances. If no, how might you call on God in the moment the next time it were to occur.

Let’s look at one last verse

Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, [offering praise by] singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;

Ephesians 5:19

In this verse, Paul speaks of the value of worship music. We read the connection between the melody of the music and our heart towards the Lord. All music can touch the heart, but worship music has the capability of connecting our heart to our Father in heaven.

Worship music is an excellent way to infuse peace into our day, regardless of what stressors are taking place.

Question: Do you have one or more favorite worship music tracks? What ‘genre’ are they and when do these tracks show up in your day? How does worship music affect your relationship with God?

Finding God’s peace in the midst of chaos can be difficult to remember but thankfully is always accessible. Let us remember to pray throughout the day, keeping God at the forefront of our minds. In doing so, God can help us to remember things such as worship music and being in nature among the many ways that we can connect with Him and the peace that only He can bring into our busy, chaotic lives.

Thank you for your time in reviewing these verses with me today. Please be sure to share in the comments how these or other examples of God’s Word have helped you find God’s peace.
