Going Deeper with the Word – Be a Person of Prayer

How can we make prayer a fundamental part of our life each day? What does it mean to be a person of prayer? 🤔 Let's discuss.

Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review the Word of God with me. The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.

Today, we examine how God’s Word provides clear guidance and direction about doubts and disbelief in our faith.

Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message. I will be reading scripture today from the Amplified Bible.

Here is our first verse:

Be still before the Lord; wait patiently for Him and entrust yourself to Him;

Do not fret (whine, agonize) because of him who prospers in his way,

Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.

– Psalm 37:7 AMP

In this verse, we see a reminder of the importance of time with God. Being still before the Lord gives us the time and space for God to comfort us in times of dismay and share with Him the concerns in our hearts. This verse goes so far as to say that we need not worry if there is wrongdoing or unfairness at the hands of those carrying out evil deeds or prospering amid our trials. Simply, we need only be still and trust in God.

Have you had a difficult time recently with someone in your life who has treated you unfairly? Have you brought the situation before God?

Let’s have a look at another verse.

But when you pray, go into your most private room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.

2 Chronicles 7:14 AMP

In this verse, Jesus Christ explains the importance of being present in our time with God. He explains the importance of finding a quiet and private place, and praying to God – and that God will recognize this intentional effort by you to connect with Him.

Do you have a private and quiet place to pray?

Let’s look at one last verse.

be unceasing and persistent in prayer;

– 1 Thessalonians 5:17 AMP

This verse briefly and simply shares something we can all benefit from. The more we pray, the closer we are to our Father. The more we pray, the more we come to depend on God. The more we pray, the more opportunities we have to hear from God clearly despite all of the distractions in our lives.

Do you have a prayer routine each day?

Being a person of prayer can be a transformational change in your life. If prayer is not a regular aspect of your life, I encourage you to start. There are no rules or regulations. There is no minimum and certainly no maximum, but know that God will see and reward those making the effort to connect and communicate with Him. Find a routine and cadence of prayer that works for you and prepare to feel His presence.

Thank you for your time in reviewing these verses with me today. Please be sure to share in the comments how these or other scriptures have helped you learn more about prayer.

Thank you for the opportunity to share encouragement. Here @walkinginstepwithGod we truly appreciate your support.  We are fully committed to Christ and the community.  We invite you to join us in fellowship and to seek opportunities for fellowship in your local community as well.
