Going Deeper with the Word – Breaking Away from Bondage

How do we know if God is with us? Is faith alone enough when we are in fear or all alone? How can we know if God is in the room? 🤔Let’s discuss.

Welcome to “Going Deeper with the Word.” In this segment, we welcome people of all backgrounds, religious or not, to review with me the Word of God.  The Word of God provides guidance, direction, and instructions for living our lives and walking with God.

I have been reading the Bible for several years and would like to share verses from the Amplified Bible. Let’s review examples of God’s Word that can lead and guide our steps and back up the principles we learned in today’s message.

Here is our first verse.

All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage];

So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

I provide these verses to highlight the explanation that the Word of God serves as a source of truth for all.  When struggling under the weight of bondage, we can turn to the Word of God for guidance on how to face our bondage and see the evidence of the promise of God to be with us as we find our way to freedom.

Let’s have a look at another verse.

.. and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

In this verse, we hear God explaining His promise of forgiveness if we are sincere and seek Him and turn away from our wicked ways. I’d like to highlight the area of this scripture that explains we require as a necessity the face of God.

Humans are fallible. I have found in my own experience that my strength can only go so far without trusting in and relying upon God for supplication for strength.   In our weakness, we may fall into sin, but as explained here, God will absolutely forgive us when we turn to Him and ask for forgiveness.

Yes, even if we fall into sin 1000 times, He will forgive us 1000 times if we ask Him for forgiveness.  Do you know anyone on earth that patient and loving?

Let’s look at one more verse.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].

James 5:16

In this verse, we understand the importance of exposing the light of our sins to one another.

By exposing the activities in our lives that keep us in bondage, the chains that hold us become weakened and allow us to take one step closer to freedom.
